A new wave of sightings of a mysterious creature in the area has led to suggestions the fabled Chase Panther could, in fact, be a wild wolf.

Over the past decade, many eyewitnesses claim to have spied a big cat prowling the vast undergrowth of Cannock Chase.

But this year, residents who have caught a glimpse of the Chase Beast claim the creature is more lupine than feline.

Resident Peter Derbyshire said he saw a wolf-like creature while driving near Pottal Pool.

“I was driving through the trees in the direction of Stafford when I saw something dark moving amongst the bushes on the right hand side of the car,” he said.

“I slowed down to get a better look. It was probably about 80 metres away. It was aware I had slowed down, but did not seem too fussed. It disappeared into the bushes and I lost sight of it.

“It was definitely not a cat, it had more of a dog’s characteristics. It had a long nose and sharp, pointy ears.

“It looked much larger than a dog, though – it had a long back and was dark black in colour.

“It could have been a wolf. It was certainly wolf-like. I think people may have been seeing this creature and believing they had seen a panther.

“It is quite a shock when you see it moving through the trees, because it is so large.”

Peter’s comments back up those of resident Jane McNally, who saw a wolf-like creature while out walking on the Chase.

“I was walking with my partner and his dog,” Jane said.

“We put the dog back on the lead as we thought in the distance there was an enormous ‘dog.’ As we approached the animal we realised this wasn’t a dog and it just stared at us for a while – I said I thought it looked like …read full story.

An Australian man was in a stable condition in hospital after being slashed across the abdomen and face by a kangaroo that was holding his dog underwater.

An Australian man was in a stable condition in hospital after being slashed across the abdomen and face by a kangaroo that was holding his dog underwater.

Chris Rickard, 49, said he was walking his blue heeler, Rocky, on Sunday morning when they surprised a sleeping kangaroo in Arthur’s Creek north-east of Melbourne. The dog chased the animal into a pond but it then turned and pinned the pet underwater.

When Mr Rickard tried to pull his dog free, the kangaroo turned on him, attacking with its hind legs and tearing a deep cut into his abdomen and across his face.

“I thought I might take a hit or two dragging the dog out from under his grip, but I didn’t expect him to really attack me,” Mr Rickard told The Herald Sun newspaper. “It was a shock at the start because it was a kangaroo, about five feet high, they don’t go around killing people.”

Kangaroos rarely attack humans but will fight if they feel threatened.

Dogs often chase kangaroos, which have been known to lead the pets into water and then pin them underwater as a means of defence.

Mr Rickard said he finished the attack by elbowing the kangaroo in the throat, adding Rocky was “half-drowned” when he pulled him from the water.

MUFON Witness Report: My friends and I (6 of us total) were visiting the neighborhood pond when one of us called to point out a lighted object far off in the dark sky.

We watched the object circle around, and one of my friends and I had jokingly called out, “Ha ha look it’s a UFO!” Two of the guys with us chose it looked like a blimp judging by the lights positioning. I snapped a pic of the aircraft on my cell phone while it was still visible.

The object had flown just out of sight behind some trees. We all were stunned at the thought of what that could have been. Finally everyone agreed that it had to have been a blimp. Approx. 2 minutes late,r the lights from before were much brighter now and behind us. We all turned around to see the object up close and right in front of us but just above the tree line.

The aircraft, about the size of a small house, hovered while continuing to go right above our heads. At this point we could see the distinct outline of a very thin triangular shaped black object.

Numerous lights lit up the underneath and a slight hum could be heard, but nothing like an airplane or a jet engine. My friends and I just watched it pass and as we were all in shock, nobody could get out their phone for a closer picture.

Just after passing us and the small pond, the triangular aircraft increased speed and took off. The object disappeared within the blink of an eye. I was in complete shock as I had never seen anything like this before in my life.

Living in a Funeral Home

My dad took a second job working as an assistant funeral director and to make things simpler he lived above the funeral home while he worked there. Most people don’t know that some ancient funeral homes rent out the top part and, knowing that many are spooked by the thought of living in a home with dead people, they make the rent incredibly cheap. He had many, many unexplainable experiences while living there. I reckon it is very vital to mention that my dad had been around dead bodies for well over twenty years when he took the job at the funeral home. Normal people may find the transition to be hard and they may scare themselves knowing they are living in a house with the dead. The shock of working with dead bodies may also make it incredibly traumatic for those who are not used to it. My dad was a not only a police officer for many years (often working at night and seeing the worst accidents), but he was also a diver for the Coast Guard and searched for lost people who were presumed dead. He has seen his honest share of dead people for years and years. In other words, working in a funeral home was nothing new to him.

Here are a few things he experienced: at night the lights would flicker on and off, locked doors would open and then slam shut, unlocked doors would magically lock, things would go and disappear only to reappear later in a weird place, and one night a wall hanging even flew off the wall several feet. My dad had to turn off everything downstairs before retreating upstairs to his home. Some nights he would turn everything off only to get up later and have every light in the house turned on.
